This place has new ownership and food quality definitely reflects it. Tried half fried and half seasoned chicken and it was wonderfully delicious. Liked the fried chicken especially with dipping it just in salt and pepper. Fried chicken is highly recommended.

Came here because the place I wanted to go to right next to it was closed. What a mistake! Food is salty and tastes too much of MSG. Ordered the spicy rice cakes and the chicken karaage, and after tasting both I've concluded that this place is probably more the Korean bar house that is better at making food to accompany drinking. The karaage was wonderfully crispy and tasted fine at first bite, but three bites in I started to get that over-salted/over-MSG sensation where I don't want to eat it anymore. The spicy rice cake dish also tasted strongly of MSG, and they used the wrong kind of rice cakes to boot. The cherry on top was the laughably bad side dishes. It's so dark in there that perhaps they don't notice themselves, or think you won't see the state the food is in, but 1) there were only two side dishes and 2) they were both horrible. Yes, that's a picture of a paltry three pieces of celery, naked of any sauce/dressing/seasoning, and old af.

I'm a fan of this izakaya because of how chill it is. Hoshi izakaya is my favorite place to eat in ALL of North Seattle. We go an order of: - Chicken Karaage - Hot stone rice w/ fish roe - Spicy prawn soup - Mixed skewered platter - Seafood w/ crispy rice   The chicken karaage was freaking juicy!! It had a perfect crunch. Also, the sausage yakitori was bomb and juicy. The skewer tray is $30 and you get so many different choices of yakitori! The food was very tasty Service was amazing! Their servers were really friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is great.  All food and drink orders came out promptly. Absolutely love this place!
