Storytime! A beautiful Indian, Vietnamese-Cambodian, and a Black girl walk into a bar. We ordered tequila shots for the girls and a gimlet for myself. Decided to take our drink outside and sit on the patio. Had two very nice handsome gentleman neighbors who we had a wonderful conversation with. Unfortunately, married but hey, we can have respectable fun with married men. Talked about insurance, water damage in your home, etc. We Facetime family on a Vegas trip.  Just laughed and enjoyed finally a nice sunny Friday evening. What I believe is a server, dropped off menus at our table and mumbled if you want something to eat, and walked away. I heard her because I was closer but no one else acknowledged her lack of presence. We got her attention and ordered another round and in the process, my girls said do you want anything specific with your drink? I remember saying, "I want a gimlet with the same tequila they choose and with ice. I believe you have to say neat when you want no ice but I want ice." Said that exactly. Clearly, I am not a bartender and as I see now after I googled it it comes without ice. My bad and noted. She comes back with our order and puts my girls' shots in front of them. Meanwhile, I'm looking for my drink. Look over my shoulder and see a drink without ice sitting there. I ask her is that my drink? She was like yeah. I was like oh I wanted ice. She responded a gimlet doesn't come with ice. I responded, "Well I order these all the time and they come with ice. Can you go and put ice in it?" She says yes and I say thank you. Get my gimlet with ice and continue to have a fun conversation with my girls and our two new friends. We decided as a group we can handle one more and we are done. We are all on a budget for future traveling plans. Limit the drink expense. My friend requests one more round of the same and we are told, "My manager says I am not to serve you anymore". I have been to plenty of bars, restaurants, pubs, corporate events, you name it. Endless amounts of alcohol. Drunkenness etc, but never in my years of debauchery, have I ever been cut off at the bar.  I can name far more times that I should have cut myself off or been cut off. Tonight was not that type of night. We decided to leave, which is exactly what they wanted. At the moment I could have asked for a manager and read them for filth but why ruin a good night out with the girls? It was very unsettling and very humiliating because there was no explanation for cutting us off.  There were a lot of people looking and aware of what was going on. Our new friends could only say kind things. Not to mention my friends have been there several times over the years and love and know some of the bartenders. So they felt extremely insulted. So like any bad breakup with no closure and with no intention of ever going back, I will speculate for you. These are the speculated reasons why we were cut off... 1. You knew it was coming...we are women of color. Although, as I said my girls have been there plenty of times. Asians can be more palatable than Black in our divided and ignorant society. I am the new factor in the situation so it is plausible. 2. Ice...did I possibly insult her on wanting ice in my gimlet. I said nothing mean to her. I literally asked for ice in my drink twice. 3. We were laughing and basic boring people might consider us loud. Joy has no limits in sound levels. 4. There was no stumbling or visible signs of drunkenness. We had a huge lovely dinner before and now a of couple drinks. So my final reason has to be because G-Man Brewery & Sports Bar is just a boring ass bar. Yeah so anyways, this happened a couple of hours ago. My night is still very lovely. You should just go to another bar nearby if you want to have fun. They all serve the same alcohol. I heard there is a really good karaoke bar. Don't let a basic boring bar ruin your night. Sorry if you thought I was going to tell a joke with my intro. Well, technically I did because they are a joke. Love to all the people who know how to be kind and love.
