We had such a lovely experience at Elio and honestly have to give a special mention to Federico and Teresa. They were both so genuinely welcoming, kind and attentive and made us feel so comfortable from the moment we arrived. We originally chose to sit outside but then decided we wanted to move inside, and they were so lovely about it and accommodated us straight away. Throughout our lunch they kept checking in on us, making sure we were happy and had everything we needed. It never felt forced either, they were just genuinely warm and caring people and their service made such a difference to our experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the atmosphere is lovely and it’s in such a pretty, peaceful neighbourhood. The food was also really good, but Federico and Teresa honestly made our visit. You can tell when people genuinely care about making guests feel welcome and they absolutely did. We’re only visiting Rome and were so happy to find Elio so close to where we’re staying. We’ve already decided we’re coming back before we leave, and a big part of that is because of how lovely they were to us. They really deserve the recognition for the service they give. Thank you Federico and Teresa, we’ll definitely be back!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €30–40

This was the most underwhelming meal we had in Rome. The sad-looking French toast pictured here, yes the singular slice, alone cost €11, which made it even more disappointing. The eggs were tasteless, the sausage was overcooked, and the pancakes were so doughy and undercooked that my kids wouldn’t even eat them. The service was inattentive and not especially friendly. My fault for listening to influencers, but their fault for not being able to prepare even the most basic breakfast options well enough to make the experience pleasant. Definitely not worth the hype or the price. Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: €10–20
