This restaurant serves perfectly cooked knödel. Many guests find the staff hospitable. The spectacular service is something these restaurateurs care about. Prices at Hotzenplatz are worth attention because they're average. The lovely atmosphere gladdens people and attracts more clients. Google users who visited this place state that the most suitable mark is 4.

We had reserved a table for two and were looking forward to a new restaurant in town with German cuisine. The first thing we noticed that was actually very negative was that people smoked in the "vestibule". Every guest has to go through there to get into the restaurant. In addition, we didn't know whether, for example, the owner of the bar wears gloves after smoking (in case she comes into contact with food). Also, when you open the restaurant door, all the smoke goes into the dining room. Very disgusting! We ordered a Radler and a Pülleken. Two Veltins were brought to us. After drinking some of the beer, Sprite was poured in. About the food: There's actually not much to report. It was solid and nothing special. The preparation of the food could be more loving. Likewise, when serving, you should concentrate more on the dish. For example, if the menu says "pan" or "pot", then that's what I actually expect as a guest and not a plate on which the dish is served. The culinary concept is missing (Hotzenplatz). The staff should already know what is on the plate when they bring the food. This was not only the case with us, but also with the neighboring table. The confusion came from the waiter naming different dishes than what was ordered. In fact, they were the right dishes, he just didn't recognize them as such. About the furnishings: It was bright and neutrally furnished. With the name “Hotzenplatz”, a themed facility would certainly have been useful. Here it is of course always a matter of taste. The cold white lighting added little to the ambience, as did the lack of decoration. Conclusion: Average quality without an overall culinary concept in a prime location on the Erkelenz market opposite the old town hall. A lot of potential that unfortunately has not yet been exploited. A hostess who smokes in front of her guests' eyes (and unfortunately also their noses). We hope that things will get much better in the future before we come back again. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €20–30 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
