Nestled in the town of Kutchan, Hozuki is a Japanese restaurant located on Hirafu. The establishment caters to lunchtime guests, serving meals from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM from Tuesday through Sunday. Known for its focus on traditional Japanese dishes, Hozuki specializes in various udon offerings, including pork belly udon and the Tori Tempura Kamatama Udon, which have received praise from visitors for their authenticity and taste. However, there are conflicting accounts of the overall dining experience, with some guests having encountered less-than-welcoming service.
The restaurant also offers convenient features like available parking, making it a practical choice for families or groups seeking Japanese lunch and brunch options. The atmosphere inside is often described as embodying true Shikoku style, yet opinions vary greatly, indicating that experiences might differ depending on individual expectations and interactions with staff. Despite generally favorable impressions about the food, it's worth noting the absence of recent feedback from the restaurant owner regarding the reported issues. Visitors looking to explore a slice of Japanese cuisine should approach Hozuki with an open mind and patience, as experiences may be mixed.

I came in mid-November, so I didn’t have to line up. However, the signs posted up on the wall indicates that this restaurant makes a batch of fresh udon everyday, and they will close when it’s all sold out. There is also a written waiting list outside the entrance for guests to line up in an orderly fashion. The udon was chewy yet smooth. I don’t normally drink all the soup, but I did this time and my throat didn’t feel dry afterwards. The fried chicken and shrimp tempura was juicy and crispy. The fatty pork was so soft and my son loved the taste of the darker broth. Yum! The restaurant was very quiet even though it was half full. I had to keep reminding myself and my children to speak softly. If I come again, I might leave my kids at home. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

Houzuki Udon (寶月) is a popular restaurant at the foot of Yotei mountain in Niseko. The thing about this popular Japanese noodles restaurant is that it only open from April to November. So those skiers who come to Niseko during winter time are out of luck. Another thing about Houzuki is that it closes early, or it depends if they have any ingredient left (due to popularity). My advice is to check their opening hours on google business first and come early. My friends and I tried a variety of udon. The traditional ones were delicious as their noodles and tempuras were freshly made by the chef. But the two highlight dishes of the restaurant are: - Dry udon with raw egg, where you will need to mix it with a little soy sauce. - Carbonara udon, served with cream cheese, raw egg, and greens. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Raw Egg, Tempura Udon, Fried Tofu
