This is a great take-away BBQ spot. We love the ribs and blackend shrimp. You can order your food and eat it there - plenty of tables . Only non alcoholic drinks Across the street is Fanning Springs State Park. Much more pleasant to get a pile of ribs and eat in the park. I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked through the door. Place could use some fresh paint as it looks tired and worn....but the food is outstanding! Friendly staff also! Great ribs, brisket, and those fried corn nugget bites...oh my! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Recommended dishes: Corn Nuggets

I stopped here on my way home from Cross City to Tampa. I arrived on a Monday morning just as they were opening at 11am. The service staff were extremely helpful, friendly and polite. I had the Lunch Special with a couple extra sides: A regular size Pulled Pork Sandwich, Cole Slaw, Fried Okra, Corn Nuggets and Sweet Tea. The portions were generous. This was some of the best BBQ I've had. The meat was tender, juicy, delicious and there was plenty of it! Three choices of BBQ sauce: sweet, mild and hot. The sandwich bun was soft and fresh. I got a pint of Brunswick Stew to go and ate it that night for dinner. It was delicious as well. The place lived up to it's name: BBQ "shack", but it was clean and comfortable. The restroom was clean as well. I highly recommend the BBQ Shack next time you're in the Fanning Springs area and craving barbecue.
