Stopped off at Hugo's on our way to Castlepoint for a camping break. Called ahead to make sure there was availability, the girl couldn't have been nicer. She reserved us a table at the window with space for our dog Jax. The service was so relaxed, yet first class. The food was amazing, small plates but filled with taste and very fresh (in fact we saw the chef pour the beer from the pumps for the beer battered haddock goujons). We will definitely be returning to Hugo's the next time we're in the area. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £20–30

Lovely place but service slow and a bit dour. Maybe it was an off day as I see the service is praised in other reviews. At any rate from my own experience the service is nowhere near as welcoming and friendly as other places in in Moffat such as the Balmoral, Coachman, Brodies and Star Bar. Or Munchies, the wee cafe next door. All these places provide great service in these difficult times
