New to Jefferson City. Second time trying Hunan, first time buying myself. We liked their food the first time with friends, decided to order for our whole family for dinner.***Will not patronize this restaurant again. Dishonest owners.***GrubHub total was $22 less than what I was charged in the end by Hunan restaurant directly. We did not order through GrubHub, but we used them for the menu and prices.Called Hunan directly to place order. A man took order, didn't give me a total on phone, but I wasn't concerned because I'd seen the prices.Get to restaurant to pick up order (same man who took my order over the phone) and was expecting a $55 bill. He charges me $77. So I asked why my total is so different from online. He proceeds to rudely "explain" that he doesn't set GrubHub prices (and in his defense, GrubHub is almost always higher prices than a restaurant's in-store prices, so this was unusual), shows me Hunan's menu prices (which are still less than the total he gave me), then says their prices are even higher than menu prices now due to inflation.I understand prices are going up on everything, but when they are making adjustments that are higher than even their in-store official menu, that is wrong. And attempting to argue with me in front of customers was in poor taste and embarrassing.I should have said no thank you and left, but being caught up in the moment, horrified at the attention he drew to us and also having a hungry family waiting, I paid and quickly left after he finally handed us our food.It was quite obvious right away that our order looked smallish considering how much food we ordered (4 entrees and rice, soup, a couple appetizers), and confirmed when at home we opened the take out containers to find half-fillled boxes. House beef was not even half full and 2/3 was wilted green cabbage and maybe 2 ounces of beef. Not even near enough for one person. Moo goo Gai pan was flavorless and mostly broccoli and the tiny amount of meat was small diced overcooked chicken breast. Hot Braised shrimp (wanted fish but he said "no fish" when I ordered) was fine, tasted good, sesame chicken was tasty yet overcooked and just a very small amount that they tried to compensate by placing it on a big messy bed of cheap Chow Mein crispy noodles. Egg drop soup was gross, tasted and looked like dirty dish water. Ew.Our whole family was still hungry after finishing everything. $77, our eat out splurge. Needless to say, we were quite disappointed about the whole situation.We place large orders typically because we have a big family. We are fine taking our business elsewhere. I will continue to spread the word of this dishonest business locally and online, and as I do by word-of-mouth, I'm finding plenty of locals who have had similar issues of over-charging as well as added hidden "fees" on their eat-in bills.
