The chef is highly creative & talented. I found this place has one of the best tasting and most creative Italian food at this price level in Japan, and it is in Azamino. Modern Italian using local seasonal and imported specialty foods were outstanding. The most memorable dishes were an exquisite fresh lamb liver with sweet seasonal Japanese figs (Ichijiku), a unusual combination but very delicious rare roasted duck with a fragrant Nepal Black Pepper & clams in a delicate wine sauce, a salcissia sausage in a seasonal chestnut cream sauce pasta with a homemade thick spaghetti pasta, and a crab roe & shrimp tomato cream pasta with a thinner homemade spaghetti-like pasta. A menu with many more standard favorites, and creative Italian dishes are sure to please almost anybody’s taste. I’m sure some traditionalist will say this is not authentic Italian, but people who can appreciate, a more modern and creative Italian food with seasonal Japanese and imported specialty ingredients, will more than enjoy. There are glass and house wines which went well with the foods we ordered, but maybe the least memorable. If you have the budget and know your wines, go for the bottles. The atmosphere is casual, comfortable and relaxing, but not fancy nor luxurious. One of the most recommendable restaurants in this neighborhood. Lunch menus are even more reasonable.
