I would give il Cortile 5stars for food1star for customer service..hence 3star average. The food, excellent presentation, tasty and reasonably priced. The customer service on the other hand requires serious attention. We have experienced similar issues to previous customers. The front of house manager is in need of retraining. Basil Fawlty is alive and well and now located in Culcheth. On arrival, we were met (not greeted) by a surly, arrogant manager. He showed us to a table in the middle of a half empty restaurant. The restaurant has a number of booths, all but one was empty. We requested to be seated in one of these booths. He reluctantly escorted us to a booth but made it very clear that it had to be vacated within 90 minutes because of a pre booking. We agreed as it appeared to be a reasonable request. On finishing we were surprised to find all the other booths and 3/4 of the restaurant empty. The manager in question should look at his manners and attitude towards paying customers. He was obviously put out by the fact that we had the audacity to ask for a different table. To further show his contempt, he ignored us for the duration of our visit. This made us feel very uncomfortable. We will not be rushing back.
