Happy to return to Il Fornello on Danforth and enjoyed the plant based menu ~ it hit the spot! As a vegan I appreciate how many options there are that use plant based ingredients to create flavourful dishes. The avocado cashew Caesar salad was nicely dressed and a light appetizer before our meal. For the main, I chose the mushroom pizza which was very hearty. Their vegan cheese is creamymy non-vegan friend tried the pizza and said she couldn’t tell the difference that it was vegan cheese. Really liked the crust as well which is crispy outside and soft inside. Our server offered vegan parmesan to sprinkle on top and it was a flavourful touch. My friend had the penne capri pasta with chicken which she felt was delicious. For both menus the prices are pretty fair and reasonable. The location is a cozy vibe. always buzzing on the Saturday evenings we have visited. The hosts have kindly accommodated us quickly without a reservation, although a reservation would be better to ensure you get a table. A server noticed the light above our table was a bit bright and came over to dim it down. I really appreciate how thoughtful and welcoming the staff are. My friend (non vegan) loves this location so it has become our new spot when we get together every now and then on a Saturday night. Looking forward to continue trying the other plant based dishes!
