Decent Indian food. The black garlic naan was aromatic and delicious. The staff were friendly, and it’s a quiet place that’s perfect for catching up over a meal. Price per person: A$40–60 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Black Garlic Naan

An exceptional evening at Ish for the Mishrit wine dinner. The pairings felt thoughtful and beautifully balanced throughout the menu. The duck taco was a standout. Deeply savoury, crisp and packed with flavour. The Kerala chicken with black garlic bread was equally memorable, rich, comforting and incredibly well executed. A genuinely exciting dining experience. I’ll definitely be back. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

COMPLETE RIPOFF - SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME I recently dined at ISH Restaurant and it was easily one of the worst fine dining experiences I have had in Melbourne. We went through EatClub, and honestly thank god for the discount because paying full price for this would have been outrageous. Even with the discount, it still felt like money completely wasted. We opted for the $95 per person celebration menu. Apart from the entrees, which were below average at best, the main course was the real disappointment. For two people, the mains included palak paneer with just four tiny cubes of paneer and butter chicken with only two small pieces of chicken. This is supposed to be a main course for two people at this price point. We were also served just one roti cut into four pieces to share, and a very small bowl of rice which is honestly ridiculous. Dessert was also a very small portion of kulfi. Now the bigger issue is the food itself. The palak paneer was overly salty and tasted nothing like fresh spinach. It genuinely felt like canned or pre processed palak. Charging $45 for this on the a la carte menu is an absolute ripoff. The butter chicken was even worse. Watery, overly tomato heavy, and completely lacking richness or depth. It honestly tasted like or worse than a store bought curry paste from Woolworths. At this price point, you expect skill, balance, and authenticity. Instead, it feels like the chef has no real understanding of what proper Indian food should taste like. A serious reality check is needed. Go to India, eat in cities like Delhi or Mumbai, and learn what actual flavour and technique are. I visited this restaurant 4 years ago and back then the food was actually good is why we decided to go again. But now they are just serving subpar food at premium prices and calling it fine dining. Yes, the ambience is nice — but that’s about the only thing going for this place. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

We firmly stand behind the quality, authenticity, and consistency of our food. Our menu reflects a refined interpretation of Indian cuisine, developed with careful technique, premium ingredients, and a clear culinary vision, not oversized portions designed purely for volume. This feedback is notably inconsistent with the experience of the overwhelming majority of our guests, including many who continue to dine with us regularly. While tastes may differ, we also recognise that some reviewers maintain a pattern of consistently critical commentary across venues, which does not always reflect a balanced or objective perspective. We remain proud of our food, our standards, and the experience we deliver to guests who understand and appreciate thoughtful, well executed cuisine.
