We got around to trying Ichiban Grill again for dinner last night, and it was a bit better than the last time we had stopped in. Got two shrimp & scallops entrees (to keep it simple), and they were both...okay. I feel like I have to grade Chinese/Japanese/Asian restaurants around here on a curve or I'd never give any of them a score over 2 stars. So, since the rice and veggies that came with the meals were quite good last night, I'm going to give 3 stars this time. The shrimp & scallops were edible, but just barely...they didn't taste bad, but didn't have much flavor and were the consistency of rubber. The portion sizes have gotten smaller since last we were in there, too, especially the amount of protein they put on top of the rice/veggies. The price is too high for the amount of food they give you (and would be even if it tasted better). It's kind of sad to say, but even considering all that, this place is still better than most other Asian places around here. So, 3 stars it is, but we won't be in a hurry to go back.
