The best meal I’ve had across 2 trips to Japan. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating toward me (despite my lack of Japanese ability). I cannot express my gratitude to the owners of this warm and welcoming Izakaya with just words. They offered me a slot despite the place being fully booked, when I hadn't had the foresight to make a reservation. They joked I could eat whatever was left, but the chef, who wakes up at two in the morning to catch his own fish and sea urchins, took only half an hour to present me with a collection of magnificent plates, loaded with grilled fish, abalone, sea urchin, sashimi, scallops, and many other fresh, local, and delicious things. I talked all evening, was invited to return the next day, when I joined them, the owners themselves, at their table, as if I was part of the family or an old friend. Both nights the bill was criminally modest, to the point I almost felt guilty. Besides the Amazing food, come to Ikkon for the people, they're some of the loveliest folks I've ever met.
