We were looking forward to changing our diet this evening and to eat a simple pizza - we didn’t get what we had hoped for. Chewy, burnt, mozzarella that resembles heated rubber...the whole thing had little resemblance to a pizza in terms if texture and taste. An awful culinary experience. The visit to Il Ritrovo was such an excellent surprise. We only went there because my son felt like having pizza. But I’ll Retrovo is so much more than a pizza place. I have been to Italy many time and I must say that Il Retrovo is some of the best Italian cuisine I have had both in and outside of Italy. The food was excellent and had the perfect taste. The pasta was perfectly al dente as you would expect to find it in Italy. I had pasta with truffle which was fantastic. The pizza margjherita was also a testimony to the quality. This simple pizza only works if the bread is good and the few ingredients is of high quality. And it was. The place has a word fired oven and it gives that extra glamour and crust. The atmosphere in the place is fantastic and the waiter was very friendly and nice. The place is small and the kitchen is the center of the restaurant where the chef can see everything that is going on and you can see everything that is going on in the kitchen. No secrets or way of hiding mistakes. And they did not have to. Everything was perfect and I would highly recommend this place to everyone. Even the prices was very reasonable and I would say surprisingly cheap. The food was at a very high level by any standard.
