My wife and I visited Peruvian Inka two days ago after watching a very positive YouTube review, so we were really looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We were the only customers in the restaurant for the entire time we were there, which immediately felt a little strange. I completely understand that we’re in Spain and don’t expect everyone to speak English, so the language barrier itself wasn’t the issue. The biggest disappointment was the service. The young waitress appeared to be splitting her time between serving tables and mopping the floor. She didn’t smile when she greeted us, avoided eye contact when placing our food on the table, and never once came back to ask if everything was OK or whether we needed anything else. Throughout the evening she gave the impression that she simply didn’t want to be there. We ordered the Ceviche Clásico, only to discover that it consists of raw, cold fish marinated in lime juice rather than being cooked. That may be an authentic and much-loved Peruvian dish, but as first-time customers unfamiliar with Peruvian cuisine, it would have been helpful if someone had explained this when we ordered or served it. There was no attempt to describe the dish or check that we understood what we were getting, which left us feeling caught out. I also noticed the waitress touching her hair and face while behind the counter before continuing with her duties, which didn’t inspire confidence from a hygiene perspective. Overall, the atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming, and the service fell well below what we expected after such glowing recommendations. We left feeling very disappointed, and sadly this isn’t a restaurant we would return to or recommend based on our experience.
