We saw the window full of cuts of meat, and were sold (as we were hungry too.) The waiter was patient with us on how to navigate the menu, and was quick when we had add-ons or requests. My favorite was the Daily Lean Meat which had a great flavor on its own, and the cucumber kimchi. The Sirloin steak was okay but too fatty for me. Great for date night, or a group celebration (see photo of a birthday order!) Price per person: ¥4,000–5,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Thank you for visiting our store. At our restaurant, we purchase whole A5 grade or higher Wagyu beef from various regions across the country, and we strive daily to ensure you can enjoy it in the best possible condition. Knowing that you felt that effort is a great encouragement for our staff. If you visit us again, please be sure to try our restaurant's specialty, Chateaubriand. It is more tender than sirloin and has less fat. We sincerely look forward to your next visit.

Food was delicious. Lots of variety in meats you can try. Definitely make a reservation because the private dining experience makes it all the better. If you’re worried about sitting on the floor, the private areas have leg cutouts. So you’re sitting on the floor but it feels like you’re sitting in a chair. It was perfect! Visited in October 2025. Japan Kyoto. Issho is a cozy yakiniku restaurant offering both shared tables and private rooms — we chose the latter, enjoying a quiet and intimate atmosphere. The space is beautifully finished in natural wood, reflecting classic Japanese aesthetics. Clean, warm, and inviting, it feels both traditional and modern at once. FOOD: Issho specializes in yakiniku, where diners grill premium cuts of Wagyu beef themselves on built-in tabletop grills. The menu offers both curated sets and à la carte options — we went for the latter to mix and match our favorites. The selection includes Wagyu beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp. We ordered sirloin (fatty Wagyu steak), tenderloin, ribs (cut of the day), beef tongue, liver, shrimp, and a fresh salad. Every cut arrived beautifully presented, with a pleasant aroma and visible marbling that promised quality. Once grilled, the meat was rich, juicy, and flavorful — the tenderloin and sirloin were definite standouts, meltingly soft and perfectly balanced in fat. The tongue was a bit tough, possibly due to our own grilling technique, and the liver required some patience to get just right. Still, everything else was delicious and of high quality, with no sinew or unpleasant textures. SERVICE: Service was efficient and friendly. In the private rooms, there’s a call button for assistance, and the staff promptly responded each time. The servers explained how to grill each cut properly and made the experience approachable and enjoyable. The atmosphere was relaxed yet attentive — exactly what you want in a yakiniku setting. VERDICT: We loved Issho. Beyond the excellent quality of the Wagyu beef, the interactive grilling made for a fun and memorable experience. It’s both a meal and an activity — ideal for couples or small groups. The meat quality was outstanding, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Highly recommend reserving a table in advance — Issho offers one of the most enjoyable yakiniku experiences we’ve had in Kyoto. Price per person: ¥6,000–7,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
