- deserves 5 star (not exaggerated) cause it tastes authentic (TASTES LIKE ACTUAL DELICIOUS MALAYSIAN FOOD), just the right amount of spice - they dont adjust their food to the local's taste like other places - recommend the murtabak , actually everything - place is a bit dark THE DESTINATION TO HAVE AUTHENTIC MALAYSIAN FOOD IN NZ Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

We were so excited to spot Istana Malaysia right across the street from our hotel. The owner Mary is so friendly & helpful, gave great suggestions where to go in Wellington. The roti canai is the real deal, made fresh on the spot. Tasted so good with the fish curry and dhall curry. Loved the curry laksa too, soup was thick & tasty. We had the sago gula melaka & roti pisang (banana) for dessert - thumbs up! Will definitely pay a visit again.
