Once the promenade around the The Duluth Depot is over, visit JJ Astor. At this restaurant, try perfectly cooked duck confit, walleye and scallops. Tasting good cheesecakes, ice cream and crème brûlée is what many clients advise. Take your chance to taste delicious wine or good martinis. Some visitors like great coffee or delicious tea at JJ Astor.

First time there 9/10/22 ellie was our server.. HORRIBLE. Don't ask for her and if you get seated with her, CHANGE! Second time there 2/02/23 Jeremy was our server... HORRIBLE AGAIN!!! The food is delicious but makes your tummy feel weird after awhile. The silverware is dirty. When we are seated, we wait around 10 minutes each time! That's a long time.. we've left twice now due to that..

We were staying at the Radisson so decided to try the revolving restaurant. Tony was our server, and honestly was probably the best waiter I've ever had in my life. He started us out by giving us a tour of the menu with some recommendations. Throughout our experience he checked back on us numerous times, kept our water glasses filled, took interest in us via conversations, and just generally was a great server. They were trying out a new chicken dish tonight, currently unnamed, but he called it "a Hawaiian Chicken". We were torn between that and the Pork Tenderloin so my wife and I got one of each and shared. Both were excellent. The pork tenderloin could be cooked to taste but he said the chef recommends medium (and assured us that is safe to do with pork now). The pork was served over a bed of creamy wild rice, roasted pears, and some vegetables. It was very tender and excellent tasting. The Hawaiian chicken was also excellent, served in a pineapple and jalapeño sauce. Don't worry, it was not overly spicy (not that we would have minded), just enough to make it have a great flavor. For dessert we took the off-menu special which was a made from scratch pineapple upside down cake, with a deliciously tangy and slightly crunchy coating, and served with vanilla ice cream. All and all an excellent experience. And that doesn't even account for the novelty of the revolving floor which gives you literally 360 degree views of the surrounding area (yes, it's still quite lovely even after dark). Thanks to Tony and the chef for a memorable evening.

Was super excited to try because I LOVED jj astor, but excitement quickly faltered. Firstly, our party of three waiting almost 30 mins at the bar upon arrival despite having had made a reservation three days prior. But even more disappointing was the service we received once we were seated at our table. Our server seemed distant and complacent, which I didn't think much of, at first. We ordered our entrees at the same time we ordered our salads; salads coming in a timely fashion. But that didn't make up for the exceedingly endless wait that was bestowed upon us as I approached our hostess. It took approximately one hour and twenty minutes for us; city folk [of the twins cities] to pull up our sleeves and ask for better service. Better music than JJ's though!
