Jackhammer has been reopened for long enough to make a fair assessment. I’m a long time customer who lives close by and visits weekly if not more. Apparently the bartenders pool their tips. That would explain why they seem to not give a damn about anything other than burying their faces in their phones.. I’ve often watched them scurry away from customers as they walk up to order drinks and their overall attitude is so blasé because they know that any effort they make simply doesn’t matter at the end of the day when they’re splitting everything with their coworkers. When you pay a cover and walk in in to a night club you expect to be greeted and offered a drink. Not here. The bartenders up front consistently seem to run away and hide at the far end of the bar even when there’s no one there. As a former night club manager, the first bartender you see should at the very least offer every single person a greeting. The bartenders in the hole really don’t say a word and don’t even ask if you want to open a tab. They just close out the transactions and put their device in front of you asking to be tipped. It’s a shame to receive such mediocre service in what used to be a legendary bar. Price per person: $30–50 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5
