What a disappointment. We came based on the reviews but left very disappointed. Although the restaurant looks newly renovated and a lovely space, it was almost empty when we were there. This did not bother us as we thought at least the staff will not be swamped with orders. Several of the dishes we tried to order were not available, even though these are typically the most common ones to order for tourists. So we ordered what we could. And compared with the places in the town centre it was a great disappointment in terms of taste (including dried up dumplings). We had to chase for a couple of orders, our empty plates were not cleared so we piled them up ourselves to prompt them. And all of this while one of the waiters was napping on a chair by the entrance and the others chatting and having fun in the kitchen. It was a weird experience, as if none of them cared. Maybe the owner was not around. We ate at Zolotaya Buhara and even though it’s right in town it’s not much more expensive and a completely different level of service and food quality. I suspect the good ratings come from the fact that you get a free coffee if you do one on site. Also, shockingly, there is a huge service charge added to the bill for the displeasure of not getting good service. Unbelievable. It should be a lot better considering the nice space they have. Jam Restaurant is by far the best restaurant in Bukhara. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the service was very warm and welcoming. A perfect place to enjoy a special dinner in the city. Highly recommended!!!
