Great service and amazing food. The mapo tofu had a nice kick of mala and is well balanced. Duck toast was very unique with great texture contrast. Will be back for more! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £20–30

My girlfriend and I had an amazing dinner at Jiaonest. The restaurant has so many personal touches, from the family photos and artwork to the custom furniture. There’s a lovely, cosy atmosphere that feels like you’re being welcomed into the chef’s world. The service from a mum and daughter duo was excellent. And it was great to meet the chef too. We drank some delicious Lambrusco and orange wine. For starters, incredibly fluffy duck toast in a sharp dipping sauce and a tofu salad in a moreish schezuan pepper and chilli dressing. We really couldn’t get enough of the salad. The beef short rib main was some of the best short rib I’ve ever had. So soft and rich. The silken mapo tofu was also delicious. The numbing undertone created by all the dishes was entrancing. Cut through with some excellent pickled radishes. We’ll be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
