This place has the best atmosphere with waterfront views in the Keys. This is where I go for a lively meal with music, good food, and watching the boats and sunset. I’ve been going here for years and it never disappoints. Key Largo has quieter, more intimate restaurants, and it also has great dive bars with music and food, but Jimmy Johnson’s has a great balance of everything. You can sit close to the music, far away, or indoors. We were there this past Saturday night. My only suggestion would be that the staff could have waited before they frantically started piling up all the chairs from the tables around us, including the extra chairs from our table. It was exactly 10 oclock, we would have been gone in 5-10 minutes, and there were so many other people still there. We’ll get there earlier next time, but Google reflects a midnight closing time for them, which I found out is wrong.

I’ve been going to this place for years. So sad to see it go down hill. We ordered truffle fries for $9.00. They are half the size they used to be. My fish sandwich was all lettuce and tomato. The fish was 1/4” thick. So not worth the $16.00! When I told the manager, Mikey, he didn’t want to hear it. Told me to get the F_ck out! Not very professional. Not a manager at all. They don’t care about making you happy. Stay away from here. Go to Gilbert’s or The Catch. Stay away from here. Should be called The Big Rip Off!

I'll start by saying that if I could give 3.5 stars, that's what I would put here. I rounded up to 4 stars because our waiter (Brett, although the check said Freddy) was really amazing. Food/Drinks: If you're the kind of person who likes to see specialty cocktails, this is a good place for you. There are a variety of concoctions that will satisfy your drinking needs, including frozen beverages (which really hit the spot on a super hot day). The food menu has something for everyone - really, it does! Their specialty is Italian (homemade pastas) and seafood (fresh caught in the Keys). My husband and I both opted for seafood with him ordering the Captain's Platter (blacked style) while I ordered the Coconut Crusted Shrimp. Both dishes were...fine. They weren't anything to write home about, but were tasty enough. My shrimp weren't as crunchy as other coconut shrimp I've had before, but the sweet tai chili sauce was on point and the batter on the shrimp was also flavorful. It seems like maybe they had been sitting out for a few minutes as well since they weren't very hot when I got them (but was so hungry that I enjoyed them anyway). Based on our choices, the prices seemed a bit high (but you're likely paying for the view anyway). I'd still go back and try another dish - maybe just something different or specifically request for extra crispy. Service: In looking at other Yelp reviews, I was really hesitant about going to Big Chill because of the divisive comments related to service (and I'm such a stickler for good service!). We must have lucked out because Brett was absolutely amazing. He greeted us with a smile, was excited that we were there for the first time, and even offered to show us around the place since there is also a pool and private cabanas you can rent during the day. He seemed to enjoy the fact that we had the "Keys vibe" as he called it. Ambiance: This is definitely a nice setting if you want to enjoy some food and drinks right on the water and watch the sunset. We happened to go when it was cloudy out, so we didn't get to actually see the sunset, but that's fine. I do think we'll be back at some point to enjoy some munchies, drinks, and live music. There is live music each night, but you can certainly sit far away from it or close by as the place is seat yourself. It wasn't terribly busy when we went (even for a Saturday night), a few tables were open, but the turnover seemed quick enough.
