Julian Beer Company! Like most people, I’ve been coming to Julian all these years and visited the Pie Company and snoozed on Julian Beer Company the entire time. The friendliest folks work at JBC, and I’ve become friends with so many of the people that bring magic to that place. Formerly known as Bailey’s BBQ, this place has a deep heritage with smoked meat. You can be forgiven for thinking it’s a brewery that happens to sell bbq because the name of the place has “Beer” and not “BBQ”. Truth be told, JBC has the best brisket in all of town. Tender as can be and the fat gristle just melts heaven in your mouth. I smoke brisket myself at home and I wish I could get to this level of doneness. Now that I got the BBQ out of the way, I have to tell you about the beer. You see the Swiss don’t export their good wine because they drink all of it, and JBC doesn’t sell its beer outside because they save it only for their patrons. Personally, I love the mead and the black IPA. The owners understand what it is that they are doing and they are making it work for the locals and the people who come to visit. There is the magic to this place beyond amazing food and beer. And it’s the people who work day and night to provide an unparalleled experience. Can’t recommend JBC enough to everyone visiting Julian! Please go and try their brisket, Mac and cheese, and a beer of your choosing! (And buy the kitchen a beer or two please!)
