I worked a 12hr shift at my job in harrisonburg, tired and still had to drive another 15 minutes home. So stopped off at the KFC in Staunton. I ordered the 16pc family meal. The lady said she would have to replace the breast meat with something else. I said please can u cook me some fresh and I didn't mind waiting. She said ok that would be ok but a 20 minute wait. I said that was fine I did not mind waiting, cuz she helped me out so much that I didn't have to cook when I got home. This was at 715pm. Yes they were busy I get that, but I didn't get the food till 8pm. I was like ok it smelled good and it was hot from what I could tell in the bags. I got home and was so disappointed. The potato was old Mac and cheese was old and cold. Then when I got into the chicken at first I couldn't find the breats meat. I was like no way. But when I got to the bottom of the bucket there lay the breast meat in a pile of grease. It looked like they just dumped it out from the fryer. It was horrible not even fit to feed my dogs. I tried calling but no answer. And now they are closing soon. Eating out is definitely not cheap. Spent a little over 60$ for this pile of . Leason learned. I ended up having to fix dinner after all. The food here is fine, but it's concerning how i see an employee licking her fingers and putting her fingers near her mouth and not washing her hands, and continuing to deal with customer's food. Cussing loudly talking to another employee. Looked straight at me standing at the counter, and didn't even say anything to me. This was the night crew around 9:30pm on April 6th, 2026. I don't understand how this restaurant is still in business, given the number of alternatives available in the area. The last time I attempted to patronize the establishment was the last straw for me though - I went by last Friday for a two piece meal, at 7:30 pm and was told it would be a 20 minute wait because they were sold out. This is a regular occurrence for them - they're either out of chicken or sides or biscuits, requiring ridiculous wait times, or the food being served is old and far from fresh. I've given them multiple chances, have ordered online, only to go through the annoying process of cancelling my order after arriving at the restaurant and being told there's no chicken available after the fact; I've had multiple orders missing items; and I've even shown up to the restaurant an hour before it's posted closing time to find it closed early. If KFC wants to win back customers it needs to address poorly run restaurants like this one, with staff that clearly don't give a damn anymore, serving poor quality food, when there's any available.
