I was really looking forward to trying this place, but honestly, it wasn’t anything particularly special for me. The matcha tasted a little weak, and the syrup had a slightly strange flavor. The dessert itself was soft and delicious, though. Of course, this is just my personal preference! I personally prefer a much stronger, richer matcha flavor. This is a gorgeous little cafe with the best coffee on the North side, and perhaps in Brisbane. A small, masterly range of sweet and savoury options in their food choices, and a variety of coffees and other drinks. In addition, they also sell a selection of fine Japanese ceramics. It can get busy, so you'd have to be lucky to score a park out the front, but you could drop off someone with mobility challenges as access would be flat and paved. This place is so good I almost hate to rave so it doesn't get even busier, but the owners are wonderful and deserve success. Pop in, you won't regret it, and you may find yourself your new local. I certainly have, and feel blessed it's close by. Price per person: $1–20

Relaxing atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating; cafe carries a nice ambience with welcoming baristas and staff. It is an intriguing Japanese-meets-Western cafe with items on the menu such as the Tuna Melt Wasabi. Kimino does a great ham and cheese toastie with the acidity of the sun dried tomatoes cutting the greasiness of a typical toastie, leaving us perfectly satisfied without feeling weighed down. They have an enticing collection of baked goods with incorporation of classic Japanese ingredients—Will try the miso cho chip cookie next time. They put a lot of care into their meals and drinks, which explains why this place is always buzzing with customers. Meal type: Breakfast Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
