Had high expectations coming in, especially with the recent recognition, but unfortunately the experience didn’t quite live up to it. We ordered mostly starters, and right away the portions stood out—in a not-so-good way. The hummus, in particular, was surprisingly small for the price (₱495), and we were told that’s really the standard serving. That was hard to justify. Some dishes were okay, but what really affected the experience was consistency. A few items came out not hot or even warm, which takes away from what should have been comforting, well-executed food. The pandesal served with the kalabasa soup was also disappointing—squished and flat, like it had been sitting too long before service. Service-wise, the staff were polite, but clearly stretched thin. There were only two servers that night, so attentiveness suffered—we even had to ask for water. The dining environment didn’t help either; the air conditioning and a fan were both hitting our table directly, making it uncomfortable. What stayed with me most wasn’t just the portion sizes or service gaps, but the overall food quality. With the kind of expectations set, you hope for something memorable—but this one missed the mark. We ordered the OMMM Salad, Dalandan juice, Dan dan Dumplings, Cuapao ni Cristina. Burnt Cabbage, Black Pepper Crab Noodles, Unagi Kabayaki, Bistek Short Ribs, Tamarind Chicken Inasal, Braso de Mercedes and Buko Pie. They were all very good and tasty. We loved it. Worth the drive. Kumba Restaurant offers a very pleasant dining experience. The service was genuinely good staff were attentive, polite, and welcoming throughout our visit. The restaurant ambience is warm and relaxing, making it a nice place to dine and unwind. The food overall was tasty and well-prepared, which we truly enjoyed. However, the dessert portion felt quite small for the price. It would be better if the dessert serving were more generous to better match its value. Overall, it’s a good restaurant with great service and ambience, and with a bit more generosity on dessert portions, the experience would be even better.
