After loving Fijian food on a visit to Fiji and reading the great reviews, we had to try this place out

Tuesday night on a rainy winter night we were the only sit in guests but that didn't bother us too much. Great traditional decor and background music sure set the scene!

The samosas were amazing for entrees, and for main we shared the fish curry, uncivilised chicken, a beautiful rice and multiple rotis.

We went with a heat rating of three for all dishes.

The fish curry absolutely amazing, so tender and full of flavour. Would definitely order again.

We ordered the uncivilised chicken as had heard it is a popular traditional dish, so, when in Rome...
It was a nice dish but not one I would go back for.

The rice fish was just amazing with a beautiful flavour of butter and cumin spices, and the roti was some of the best we've had.

An amazing meal, and great value also.
Will be back!

This place is an absolute gem. The food is so well priced, the decor is adorably homely and unironically kitsch and the food is deliciously authentic. It reminds me of the food my Fijian grandfather used to make. Service is a tiny bit slow but it's worth the wait. Order lots of stuff, it's all delicious and authentic. There is no other place like this in Melbourne.

I've been ordering from this restaurant for YEARS and I must say, they are one of the best restaurants in Melbourne who offer fresh/delicious and unique dishes. It all started years ago when they first came to Menulog... I had never tried Fijian dishes before and once I did, wow oh wow, I just couldn't stop haha. My wife who also just moved to Australia also become a huge instant fan of Kaindia as well. The owners are very friendly and their delivery is always usually on time (sadly can't have food delivered anymore as I live further away now but I will still come by and do pickup - yep that's how good their food is... I'll drive 40mins for it :P).

I've tried almost all of their dishes and they are all very good. My highly recommended dishes are the Lamb Stew, Chilli Crab and the Chilli Chicken (extra hot). The Tomato Chutney/coconut sweets they give with it is also really a treat.

A must try for everyone.
