My wife and I recently visited Kajiken on 11th Ave, right across from Cal Anderson Park, and it’s a solid addition to Seattle’s ramen scene. The restaurant specializes in Aburasoba (soup-less ramen), and the flavors did not disappoint. The karaage (Japanese fried chicken) was excellent—crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. I also tried the Meat Lovers Aburasoba, which packed great umami and spice with generous toppings. The sauce was rich and addictive, making every bite satisfying. That said, the noodles were slightly undercooked on my visit, landing just short of that ideal chewy texture. It’s a minor nitpick but noticeable for ramen enthusiasts. The bigger issue is the surrounding area. While the restaurant itself is clean and welcoming, the street scene at 11 AM on a Thursday was rough. Open illegal drug use (hard stuff, not marijuana) right across the street near the park and so close to the East Precinct felt jarring and unsafe. The restaurant can’t control what happens outside, but it does impact the overall experience in what is otherwise a convenient Capitol Hill location. Overall, Kajiken delivers tasty, customizable Aburasoba and solid sides in a not-so-great area. Worth trying for the food if you’re in the neighborhood, but keep situational awareness in mind. Rating: 7.0/10. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30

I came here just trying to catch up with a friend, but honestly? We both got distracted the second the food hit the table. The noodles were perfectly chewy, packed with flavor, and somehow got even better with every bite after mixing everything together. My friend and I ate here yesterday and both experienced stomach issues shortly after the meal. About 2 hours after eating, we both had multiple episodes of diarrhea. We ordered homura aburasoba that included raw egg, and while we can’t say for certain what caused it, the timing and the fact that both of us had the same reaction makes us concerned about food handling or freshness. The food itself tasted fine at the time, but this experience was quite uncomfortable. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and reviews their food safety practices. Just sharing this so others can be aware. Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30
