Kanon is a modest yet welcoming restaurant located on a side street in Tokyo’s lively West Azabu area, near the intersection known locally for connecting Omotesando and Nishi-Azabu. It specializes in Japanese cuisine, particularly teppanyaki and Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, with options to take out. Diners recommend dishes like the negiyaki or those featuring soba noodles. The chef-owner, known to be a Hiroshima Carp fan, creates a homey atmosphere alongside his partner as they manage the place themselves.

The establishment evokes the feel of a tea shop or snack bar, offering a casual and laid-back setting suitable for solo dining at the counter or with regulars. Despite its somewhat hidden location away from main train stations, its distinct presence makes it relatively easy to spot. Reservations are available, but other operating details like business hours remain uncertain. Notably, Kanon offers both lunch sets and evening courses, though specifics on menu items or prices are not well-documented.

While Kanon is appreciated by locals and seems to have a loyal customer base, information about any changes or updates in recent years appears limited, as the last feedback from visitors was recorded five years ago. Without fresh input from the establishment's management, potential patrons may want to verify current offerings or contact the venue directly in advance to ensure a satisfying dining experience.

Lovely experience, the owner is an elderly Japanese man. It’s a local shop with Japanese menus, we happened to drop by as we were very hungry and just searched Okonomiyaki and found this restaurant. He’s super nice and made everything from scratch, even chopping up the ingredients for the Okonomiyaki we ordered. We loved his service and his attempts to communicate with us along with another local regular he had in the store. When he learnt a new English word he wrote it down in his diary and continued practicing the phrases throughout our dinner which we found cute. The vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant was very warm and welcoming. Would definitely go back if I had the chance and support his business. This is the place!! My stay was close by and on a late night, i decided to stumble into here and boy am I glad. The okonomiyaki is delicious here — it’s flavorful, saucy, and exactly what I needed late at night. it’s one older man running the place and he has little English but is happy to work with you. I’ve added an English translation of the main Okonomiyaki menu in the review! I got the deluxe which comes with bucket wheat noodles, pork slices, shrimp, squid and I think clam/oyster - SO GOOD. It was exactly what I needed after a couple of drinks. He also has draft beer and a classic Japanese cocktail menu. If you live in the area or are just craving Okonomiyaki - I’d definitely come check this place out. THANK YOU! Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
