If you want to experience a truly authentic Japanese local izakaya, this place is a hidden gem. “Izakaya Kappa” is run by Mr. Tomio Kanda, a warm and genuine owner who represents the spirit of old-school Japan. The atmosphere feels like stepping into the Showa era — simple, cozy, and incredibly welcoming. The motsuni (pork stew) is outstanding — rich, deep, and unforgettable. The salt yakitori is also excellent, perfectly grilled with great balance. As a fun touch, you’ll get “aokappa” (pickled cucumber) as an appetizer — a playful nod to the shop’s name. It shows the owner’s sense of humor and charm. But honestly, words are not enough. Just go once — you’ll understand everything. This place will blow your mind.
