This was a fantastic little spot that I found from a recommendation of the staff of several other bars. Enter the tasting room upstairs and take the flight of stairs down. You’ll enter Kashoku which is unmistakably Japanese in style. The long bar stretches the length of the room in the narrow space. There is no menu and so the first order of business is to discuss drink preferences with the staff. After some simple questions the bartender seemed satisfied and started making our drinks. The result: an incredibly unique cocktail with with fernet hunter in it’s base. I really enjoyed the first cocktail and I asked for a second, and it too was just as impressive (an interesting non-sour style use of Midori). The atmosphere here is very laid-back and quieter, soft music from the record player fills the space. The staff is warm and friendly — happy to match your request with something interesting from behind the bar. When we were there around 1am there was a mix of locals and tourists. If you’re a fan of Ginza bars, this will definitely scratch your itch.
