Kelseys has always been our favourite casual restaurant to go to. We’ve continued coming back because the food has consistently been amazing, the service has always been great, and we’ve always felt like it’s a great value. Unfortunately, after our most recent experience, we will not be returning. The service was easily the worst part of the night. It took quite a while for our server to initially come over to us, and when he finally did, we immediately felt rushed. To start, he wanted us to order everything at once drinks, appetizers, mains, and even dessert. We eventually agreed and placed the entire order, only to wait a long time for the food to arrive. When it finally came out, it was cold. Normally, we’d be much more understanding if the restaurant was packed and the staff were clearly overwhelmed but that wasn’t the case at all. The restaurant was practically dead, which made the long waits and lack of attention even more frustrating. After dropping off our food, our server basically disappeared. He never came back to ask how the food was, never checked if we needed anything, and never refilled my drink. I eventually had to stop another server who was walking by and ask them for a refill. What made the experience even worse was that our server didn’t appear too busy to check on us. Instead, he spent a significant amount of time chatting with a female employee. From our table, we could hear him discussing customers, how much they tip, how much money he needed to make, and making negative comments about other customers who were in the restaurant. It was incredibly unprofessional and shocking to listen to, especially while we were sitting there being ignored. Then of course conveniently once we were finished and it was time to pay, he suddenly became extremely friendly and wanted to chat with us. We understand restaurants can have off nights. If the place had been slammed and our server was running around trying to keep up, we would have understood. But watching our server spend his time socializing and discussing other customers while the restaurant was quiet and our table went unchecked made the experience incredibly disappointing. Cold food or a longer wait by itself wouldn’t have caused us to write a review like this. It was the entire experience… Being rushed to order, waiting a long time only to receive cold food, never being checked on, having to ask another employee for a drink refill, and listening to our server complain about other customers while neglecting his own table. It’s genuinely disappointing because Kelseys was our favourite casual restaurant and somewhere we regularly looked forward to visiting. We’ve had plenty of great experiences in the past, which makes this one stand out even more. Unfortunately, this experience completely changed our opinion of the restaurant. After being loyal customers, we won’t be back. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Parking space: Plenty of parking
