They tried to hold my friend and I hostage over Mimosas. They would not let me pay my bill. I had to inform them very abruptly that I am an adult. They acted like we were making a huge scene, when all we were doing was catching up after 2 months and celebrate my friends birthday. The server (Colby?) was AMAZING, but the managerial staff have some serious issues in the way they run this business. We will NEVER be coming back. They also tried to up-charge me for happy hour Mimosas, because they thought we “should have” drank it after 10am, when happy hour ended, even after ordering it beforehand. What a shame!! It used to be our favorite spot to meet up. Service: 1

I've been going to Kerbey Lane Cafe in Austin for many years. When the San Marcos location opened, we were excited to be able to go locally. When it first opened, it was a very good place to go. We dined there yesterday for my son's birthday and I have to say I was quite disappointed in many aspects of our visit. First of all, even though it wasn't very busy at all, it took them about 10 minutes just to seat us. I asked about a menu item that was marked GF and was told it wasn't really gluten-free. So I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with NO BUN. When I received my order, it had a bun. I really don't understand this as I had specifically asked about gluten-free and asked for no bun. The fries it came with were COLD. I asked for fresh fries and the new fries they brought looked like they had been put back in the fryer to heat them. I can tell because I used to work fast food. They were extra greasy and quite gross. I couldn't even finish them. When discussing the "gluten-free" items on the menu with my husband, he said the key on the menu indicated that items marked GF were "gluten-freeish". If you are going to have gluten-freeish items on your menu, you need to indicate that CLEARLY. I didn't even see this. Some people are severely allergic to gluten. It isn't something to be playing around with saying it is "gluten-freeish". Anyway, my family, especially my kids, love this place, so I'm sure we will be back, but if I had my choice, I would pick a different establishment. What do kids know? The Kerbey Queso was good, but we were given a basket with mostly chip crumbs. Oh...one other thing...the table we sat at was right at the back (by the outside area) and we had the delight of looking at the massive dirt dobber nest on the column outside the window during our visit. Gross. Dietary restrictions: Don't count on anything being truly Gluten-Free as their menu indicated that GF means gluten-freeish. I wish they had options that are truly Gluten-Free.
