This bar provides you with nice food and a place to rest after a long walk around Central Park. Visitors indicate that it's fine to go here for the Caribbean and Jamaican meal. Kingston Cafe may please you with tasty chicken curry, coconut shrimps and oxtail. It is cool to try delicious rum. Get your meal started with great coffee.

Musicians make live music in the evening. Many guests note that the staff is competent at this place. According to the clients, the main disadvantage of this spot is the downscale service. From the guests' viewpoint, prices are average. The comfortable atmosphere is to be found here.

Been going to this place since they got there have been super pleased until the last two times. I don't know if they lost their lease and someone else picked it up but there's definitely another culture of people running this place and the food shows it it's sucked!!$!  Absolutely horrid

I went recently (several months back but still) with a couple friends simply because I saw it on Kitchen Nightmares, as I assume the case to be with most people. Upon walking in, there was no hostess, no one at all in the front of the restaurant and as is shown on KN, the layout is confusing so in order to find the main dining room we wandered for a moment. Still hadn't seen anyone, of course, customer or employee. We finally find the completely empty main dining room and seat ourselves. After a moment of us talking about how strange it was that we hadn't seen an employee, a man appeared from what I assume is the kitchen behind the bar. He hops on over and hands us menus and asks us for our drink orders, which we give and he hops away (literally this man was bouncing as he walked). He comes back about 7 minutes later with our drinks, none of which have ice, and asks for our food order. We ask for the patties - they're out. We ask for about three or four other items - all completely out. Cool, alright, we finally settle on something they have and get two entrees and an app between the three of us. Mind you - all of this food is priced above $15 including the apps, and the menus clearly have little stickers of these higher prices tacked over the lower prices originally printed on the menu. They seem to be trying to force revenue in a slow period by raising the prices almost unreasonably. Whatever. We waited about... 45 minutes for our two entrees and app. Bear in mind that, once again, we're the only people in here. I believe the man that took our order was also the only cook, but in the span of time for our food to cook we saw the man exit the kitchen through the dining room and go outside three times, I assume to smoke which no judgment at all on the smoking but really? While you're cooking for the literal only customers in the building? Anyway, we got our food and it was lukewarm but I suppose at least edible and somewhat tasty? It wasn't the worst but I honestly wouldn't go back for it. Then came time to pay - he swiped the first card and the machine tried to read it only to completely shut down. We didn't have cash so we said we would wait for it to restart and turn back on. He said he wasn't gonna turn it back on. What? Not that he couldn't get it on - no, that he would not try. He then told us that two of us had to stay in the restaurant while the third found a bank and withdrew cash. I left my friends there, drove around for five minutes to find an ATM, took the fee for using an ATM that was not my bank, drove back and handed him the money and he took it and put it in the register and said "thanks." He did not even give me my change (of over $11, mind you) and simply took it as his tip so I said "my change please," and he huffed and puffed and opened the register back and gave me my change, counting out the coin change coin-by-coin quite loudly and angrily, and handed it to me and told me that they were closing for the night (at 6:30 in the evening?) so we had to go. Overall, not the best part of my Californian vacation and no, I wouldn't go back. Looks like it's closed now anyway.

My friends and I decided to do an all things black night.  Dinner and a movie.  Went to a movie depicting african American culture then sought out a black owned restaurant to support.  Kingston cafe was our pick due to the limited black owned restaurants in Pasadena. It never fails when I ignore fellow yelpers that the Yelpers were right.  Service was slow.  Approx 30 mins to get our drinks even though there were maybe 3 other people in the entire restaurant.   We then order our dishes.  We wait about an hr before our plates came.  My chicken couldn't have been the hold up because it was cold when it arrived.  One friend had the coconut rum shrimp, one had curry shrimp, the other had the ox tails.  How long does it take to cook shrimp?  5 mins?  Chicken 20mins max?  Luckily they had comedy night so we had a bit of entertainment while we waited.  That is the only reason why I give them 2 stars.  Our waitress was also nice.  The food was Meh.   The drinks, although they charge premium prices , were weak.  The comedian introduced the owner, she didn't even bother to turn around and greet her guests.  We really wanted to enjoy and support this place but unfortunately we didn't.  Would not recommend at all.   Originally when we got there we thought it would be a good place to have our club meetings.  But after tasting the food and drinks.... That wont happen either.   Sorry.
