Kingston... Jamaican connections? Think again. Okay, let's cut to the chase, this is no funky modern coffee spot for the trendsetters of Tokyo, they don't even have an FB page; but rather a nostalgic nook replete with an atmosphere that you feel that it has tales to tell. It has that immediate 'at-home' feel about it, the couple that run it are in their sixties I suppose but are full of smiles and friendliness, a genuine warmth is tangible. I'm guessing they can't speak English...as I am proficient in Japanese that isn't a problem though. Hehe! One slight jar to the system is that this place IS a smoking establishment, so if you are not of the puffing persuasion best move on to Doutor next door. IF you couldn't care less about the yellowed wallpaper and the tanned looking ceiling you should be happy enough however. :) The cappuccino was recommended, and IS recommended by me, having had it. Served in a now well-aged 'Made in Japan' cup with a saucer but of distinctly European flavour design wise, looks the part. As you sit down on the comfy old wicker-backed chairs you can't help notice just how worn out this place is. The table edges have their varnish worn off, the poster frames are chipped and scratched and yet, the posters are still lively and interesting, introducing their viewers to a bygone era. Just soooo appealing. You CAN wile away time here, and you should. Being a tad peckish I ventured to try the cheese on toast. ¥600. A lot? Once you see and taste it, you'll consider to be pretty good value for money. It was... close to perfection. You need to exit Hanzomon station from exit 4 and turn immediately right, saunter down the street and cross over to the left side as soon as you see the raggedy and faded canopy almost concealing the cafe's existence. Stop existing and start living an olde world coffee experience at Kingston. :) P.S. The coffee brewing machine here is an exquisite work of art from the U.S. You gotta see it for real!
