Let me start by saying the customer service here is horrendous! We arrived at 10am (right when they opened), and immediately the hostess asks us if we can eat and be out before 11:30am because they will be very busy. I'm so glad that our business matters to them..seemed as if we were being rushed out the door before even being seated. Once we were seated, I asked the waitress for a high chair, and she immediately said "ok later" and walks away. I get the Chinese cultural rudeness, but figured I'd ask her for a high chair since we needed one and had to be out by 11:30. We ordered all of our dim sum items..and waited...and waited...and waited for our items to trickle in. If you're going to rush people out the door, at least have the kitchen prepared to turn around the dim sum items at a fast pace! It got so bad that we ended up canceling an item because we were already done and it had still not shown up. The dim sum quality was good, but not any better than places I've been to in the So Cal or even Jade Garden in Seattle.  Also, is it me or does dim sum in BC cost twice as much as the US? Every dim sum dish was $6+ to $7+ for the standard dim sum fare.  Parking is free in the adjacent parking garage for 2 hours, but you need to register you license plate in their log book in the waiting area.
Good service and atmosphere. Food is decent but not many variety compared to other dim sum places (e.g. no beef tripe). Not many vegetables option. Plus, you order from menu instead of food cart.
Visited: Apr 6 2019 This really is THE dimsum place to go to if you're ever in Vancouver/Richmond area.  Food and service is always consistently top-notch.  Prices are reasonable and surprisingly on par with the other dimsum restaurants in the area (even though Kirin's quality reign supreme). My family and I make weekly visits to the restaurants and always with a reservation.  Parking is free and ample, just make sure you write your license plate and stall # in the car registration book in the reception area.   Kirin changes a handful of items in their dim sum menu once every couple of months. For this week, we noticed they have a few new items and we decided to order it. The new items we ordered were black truffle scallop rice roll, scallop and shrimp steamed dumplings with black fish eggs, and squid ink egg custard/yolk buns (sweet - 流沙包). They were all good, although not sure if I'm impressed with the truffle scallop rice noodle roll because I didn't tasted much truffle.  The scallops were a bit anemic and the rice rolls were kinda thick.   The scallop and shrimp dumping tasted fresh and delicious and the egg custard bun is awesome.  Watch out for the leaky filling, it's piping hot.  Can't really taste the "squid ink" but I think it's more for show than taste.   Our staple items to order is always the beef balls and siu mai (steamed pork/shrimp dumplings).  We also order one item from the fried noodle/rice menu but we order 1/2 size (or small size) just so we can try more items.  The half portion is generous and it's half the price (almost)! I want to say that with other dim sum restaurants in Richmond you experience mayhem (and sometimes not so nice people trying to cut in line) while waiting to be seated.  I never experience this here at Kirin.  It's busy, absolutely, but everyone is orderly and waiting patiently for their table.   Ordered: Beef balls Siu Mai Black truffle scallop rice noodle roll Egg custard steamed bun (流沙包) Steamed turnip cake Deep fried chicken knees Seafood and vegetables flat rice noodles in soup Deep fried egg pastry (蛋散)
