Discovered Kisho when we arrived at Nagoya on Christmas Day. We were literally dragging our suitcases and thinking of getting a kombini dinner when Kisho’s neko signboard grabbed our attention (we cats). Took a chance and it was the best decision. Every dish was delicious - roast beef, steak with garlic butter, taco rice - in this little izakaya that’s run by one person, owner-chef Sho-san. He was so warm and friendly, and clearly loves cats. Every little detail, from the serving plates to the wallpaper, was cat-themed! It really felt like fate because our 16-year-old cats had died 2 months ago and we were missing them so much. We loved Kisho so much that we went back for our last meal in Nagoya. And it was just as good as before (highly recommend the paella). Sho-san remembered us and even gave us a bag of snacks and handwritten/hand-drawn letter from his wife. How lovely! Truly the highlight of our 2-week journey across Japan and the best food, hands down. Thank you Sho-san and Marina-san, we hope to meet you again!
