Famous in Korea as 'the Samsung chairman's choice.' The ramen is filled with ocean flavors and is a bit on the salty side. No need for extra noodles as the portion is plenty, but definitely add the duck chashu—it's amazing. It's a pretty good, tasty restaurant, but maybe not worth a huge line. I spotted this small ramen shop near Kyoto Station and my hotel during my first visit to Kyoto in 2025, but didn't get the chance to try it. For my second trip, I made sure it was on my list! Now I understand why there's always a long queue—the ramen is absolutely delicious. Hands down the best ramen I’ve tasted in Japan so far. It’s a clam-based broth, and I highly recommend the spicy version. Depending on the time, you might have to wait in a long line, but it is 100% worth it. I will definitely come back to try the rest of their menu Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A Hidden Gem of Seafood Heaven in Kyoto Tucked away from the tourist crowds, Kitada Clam Soup Ramen is a local treasure worth seeking out. The short walk from Higashi Hongan-ji Temple only adds to the anticipation of slurping down their unique and unforgettable ramen. The unassuming shop features the typical Japanese ordering system: a vending machine. Don't be intimidated, just make sure to add those whole clams to your order – they're essential for experiencing the full flavor explosion! The broth itself is a symphony of clam goodness, but the tender clams elevate it to pure seafood ecstasy. This place is clearly a favorite among nearby office workers, and for good reason. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, and the ramen is simply divine. As the only tourists there, we felt like we'd stumbled upon a truly authentic experience. If you're a seafood lover and crave a ramen adventure off the beaten path, Kitada Clam Soup Ramen is an absolute must-try. Just follow your nose (and maybe a map) to this hidden gem, and prepare for a taste of seafood heaven.
