This has to be on the short list when visiting the Ghibli museum in Mitaka. Its a short walk, but nice. We walked in around noon, and got the last table. As with a lot of restaurants in Japan, dining areas are smaller thus seating is usually maximized. A party of 2 who were seated at a 4 top were so kind and moved over the the smaller table so that the 3 of us could sit (and they were not even prompted by the staff). This establishment is run by two women (looks like a mother-daughter duo) who do everything. There is a set menu that changes for an insanely cheap price. Lots of food....fresh, homey, and balanced. We especially appreciated the vegetables after eating so many meals of ramen, sushi, curry, etc. (the set offered when we went had both a salad and cooked seasonal veggies). The portion size was generous and included in the set meal at the end is coffee or tea (to go along with dessert). The service was fast, the seating was cozy, and the two women truly seemed to enjoy running their business. We recommended Kitchen Home to friends who were traveling right after us and also going to Studio Ghibli and they were not disappointed. Price per person: ¥1–1,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
