A local izakaya with great food! Happened to find this place after visiting the moss temple nearby. The omurice was delicious! They made a meat-less version for me which was much appreciated. Highly recommend!

We found this restaurant on our way home from visiting some temples and were absolutely thrilled! The food was top notch! There were seven of us and the restaurant has eight seats. The owner was very friendly and patient with us, as we couldn't speak Japanese. The food was unbeatable value and incredibly delicious! We loved it and if we're ever in Kyoto again, we'll definitely be back! Tabemono wa totemo oishikatta desu. Price per person: ¥1–1,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We had a great experience at Kitchen Matsu. The host greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home, checking in regularly and offering great menu suggestions. The food was excellent—each dish was flavorful and cooked perfectly. We especially enjoyed the meatballs with home made souce, in burger or other combinations. Portions were just right!
