In my ongoing quest to discover the culinary gems of the Harz, I came across a pearl that seems unsurpassed in its modesty and excellence: the “Little Auszeit” restaurant. A spontaneous visit, initiated by my children's and I's adventurous spirit, turned out to be a culinary revelation, especially since the owner generously reserved three seats for us on Good Friday evening, a day when every seat seems like gold dust. From the moment we crossed the threshold of this established establishment, we were welcomed with a warmth that has become rare in today's gastronomy. Our coats were carefully collected and we were escorted to our table with distinguished elegance. The opening culinary offering, an aioli cream that served as an amuse gueule, set the tone for an evening of culinary excellence. This was followed by a warm greeting from the kitchen: a feta cheese of such quality and depth of flavor that it would make any connoisseur rave. My daughter chose a classic tomato soup as a starter, the freshness and aroma of which left her extremely satisfied. Her main course, farfalle pasta with a wild garlic pesto from Harz production, underlined the local connection and creativity of the cuisine. I myself gave in to the temptation of a fried lamb fillet, served with a balsamic sauce, flanked by a potato gratin and ratatouille. This dish was nothing less than a poetic masterpiece on the plate, a lamb fillet of such tender texture and flavor sophistication that it reminded me of the rarest culinary experiences of my career. The accompaniments were equally exquisite, each element perfected to perfection. The crowning finale was the Kaiserschmarrn dessert, a symphonic composition of sweetness and saltiness that made every bite a feast for the senses. My Conclusion: The “Kleine Auszeit” restaurant is an ode to culinary craftsmanship, a place where hospitality is not just a promise, but a lived reality. An unreserved recommendation for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. A reservation is essential - advice that I will also take to heart in the future so that I can experience such magical evenings again. Very fine restaurant that can be easily overlooked but is definitely worth a visit! The ambience is rather chic, slightly upscale but still down-to-earth and cozy. The price is slightly higher, although it is definitely appropriate for the quality of the dishes. In addition to the food, there is also a good selection of wines, open or by the bottle. The service was also great. We were completely impressed by the dishes from starter to dessert.
