The food was okay and the atmosphere was okay as well the fact that the chefs had to move around each other multiple times while they were cooking was a little awkward. We also had a party of five adults and three children all under 5 years old since that makes eight of us they added the gratuity to the bill even though there was only five people who ordered. They almost got away with getting a double tip seating is also very limited. The sushi that I get from the commissary felt like it was more fresh than what I was served. I was looking up sushi places in either Gulfport or Biloxi & chanced on Koi Sushi. I am SO glad I did. We made it right after 2 today and they were still quite busy so I didn't feel as bad for coming so close to their close time. (Yelp said they close at 3 when they in fact close at 2:30 for lunch). It is smaller than I thought it would be, but the booths were comfy & looked like they had nice hibachi too. Our server was friendly, fast, & efficient. There were SO many rolls that sounded good, that it was hard to narrow it down. We ended up on a cucumber & crab salad for an appetizer. The rolls we got were Rock & Roll, Hot Summer Roll, Tropical Roll, Sophia Roll & the Wasabi Tobiko roll. I also got the Scallop & foie Gras nigiri. What a treat! I am hard pressed to pick my favorite because I thought they were ALL great, for different reasons. The flavor combinations of some were new and special. I loved that the tropical roll had coconut shrimp & strawberry, and the Sophia had scallop, garlic mayo & black truffle!! I am a big proponent of quality over quantity so I appreciate a well made roll that isn't one I can't fit a piece in my mouth in one bite. This is going to be a DESTINATION sushi spot for me. Going to Mississippi? Gonna stop at Koi. Going to Louisiana? Going to stop at Koi.
