Right after visiting Nekobukuro, come here for a meal. Do not delay your visit – seriously, the Japanese cuisine is waiting for you. This restaurant is proud of nicely cooked takoyaki, sashimi and yakitori chicken. Don't miss the opportunity to drink good beer.

The accommodating staff shows a high level of quality at Koike. Disappointing service is something that guests would like to improve here. The atmosphere is nice, as visitors see it. But many clients who use Google didn't grant this place a high rating.

I went to this place on a recommendation from someone I know who moved to Japan a long time ago to do translation work (note that he's a white American male). He told me that despite the smell of smoke, it was his favorite izakaya that he's aware of in Tokyo. Through that recommendation, I ended up having dinner with him because he was there, and I actually met him in person. Meeting the guy in person was nice, but the actual restaurant was okay? The main thing I liked was that one unique feature: you can put your stuff on top of your table instead of at the bottom, which gives you more leg room. That's nice considering how many Japanese restaurants are already tiny as is. The actual food that I tried was certainly fine but not really “best izakaya food” tier like it had been hyped up to me. I thought the few yakitori skewers they had were pretty good, but not the best. They had a lot of clearly American-inspired snacks like cheese and potato, which were kind of good. The one sashimi order we got was incredibly mediocre—I didn't like the sauce on top. I think it was some kind of white fish. Overall, I would only come here if someone really wanted to. There are definitely other izakaya places I'd like way more than this one in Japan. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
