Shimabara Wachigaiya is a great attraction for tourists who come to eat at this restaurant after long walks. Kokoya specializes in Japanese cuisine. The success of this place would be impossible without the cheerful staff. Spectacular service is something that guests highlight in their comments. From the visitors' viewpoint, the atmosphere is nice. This spot is ranked 4.5 within the Google grading system.

First time for us in an izakaya, but immediately a great one. The atmosphere is very interessting and something that should be done on a Japan visit. Awesome and extremly nice hosts. We had great talks. Food was very delicious and the drinks very tasty. We would go there any time again :) Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Had a lovely time being looked after by Kyouji & Chika. Our japanese is not very good, but they were very patient and helpful. We had some delicious dishes, really lovely hospitality. We were staying just around the corner, and it was exactly what we needed after about 20,000 steps. Highly reccomend you visit them, and have a wonderful meal. Thank you both!! My partner and I walked in off the street after a long day having no idea what we were in for! Exhausted, we tried using a translator to order some we thought could be accommodated. After some confusion (translator did not serve us well here!) Kyouji and Chika very graciously walked us through how their restaurant worked and gave us some recommendations for food, all of which was delicious! They asked us about our trip to Japan, how we were liking it, what we had planned, and what our favourite moments were so far. We also spoke about fun customers they’ve had from all over the world! All in all it was a great evening and we’re happy we stumbled in on this gem. Thank you to Kyouji and Chika both and we look forward to visiting again when we next get the chance to travel to Japan!
