I was warmly welcomed as a guest from Taiwan. The auntie waitresses tried very hard to introduce the menu to me in English, which made me feel very touched and welcomed. Every dish was delicious, especially the cold noodles and the sashimi. The beer with its rich creamy flavor was also excellent. From the outside it looks like a simple and unremarkable izakaya, but inside it has a wonderful atmosphere—warm, cozy, and relaxing. Highly recommended. I came in as a solo diner, and quickly discovered that my very rusty Japanese was not sufficient to decode the day's menu written on the wall. I asked the waiter (in, again, my *extremely* broken Japanese) to just bring me a couple of dishes he liked best, and ended up with a really lovely meal through no doings of my own! All of the staff were so kind and friendly all evening in spite of the pretty steep language barrier. The total ran me a reasonable ¥4700 for 4-5 dishes and two lemon sours. Food-wise, I'd describe everything I ate as solid but not mind-blowing. Koma isn't a destination restaurant, but sometimes you just need a friendly place around the corner to serve you good food with a smile, and that's exactly the experience I had here.
