I've been coming to Koumoto in Hiroo for nearly ten years, mainly for business dinners. The private rooms and attentive service were always the reasons I kept returning. Unfortunately, my most recent visit left me with a very different impression. Perhaps it was simply an off night, but both the service and the atmosphere seemed to have declined. The private room next to ours was occupied by a very loud group, which made it difficult to hold a comfortable business conversation. Another disappointing moment came when I stepped out to find the restroom. Although it was close to our room, I simply wanted to confirm the direction. Instead of pointing me the way, the staff member's response came across as surprisingly dismissive. The biggest disappointment came at the end of the evening. Not long after we had paid the bill, our private room became noticeably hot. It became so warm that my guest and I even joked that it felt like a not-so-subtle reminder that our evening was over. Whether that was intentional or not, we hadn't stayed particularly long, so it wasn't the final impression I had hoped for. The food itself remains good and is fair for the price. My disappointment wasn't with the cuisine—it was with the hospitality. A restaurant can serve excellent food, but service is what makes guests want to return. After nearly a decade of dining here, I sincerely hope this experience was an exception and that Koumoto can return to the level of hospitality that made it one of my regular choices for so many years. Excellent quality in this hidden restaurant. Delicious !! Next to standard menu always daily specials. Maybe a bit more on the expensive side. Only Japanese Menu Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
