Great place to start the day. Friendly staff. Awesome pastries, drinks and coffee. Had the locals twice recommend the doughnuts - and you can understand why. Had my last one on the flight home - apricot jam and sugar - nom nom nom...

People complain about the craziest things. I'll never understand most of the 1 star reviews places like this get. Most of them have nothing to do with the food, service, or atmosphere. All of which are completely spot on here. Two things, 1) this place has been here for 90 YEARS. That doesn't just happen. They are OBVIOUSLY good at what they're doing. 2) the place is full and always has a steady flow of people through it... another very good sign that THEY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING. The klapfen are very, very good. Are they exactly like the klapfen where you grew up? No. But why would someone travel hundreds if not thousands of miles to Ostia and expect everything to be just like home? Makes no sense to me.

Absolutely delicious doughnuts and incredibly kind service! Everything was warm, freshly prepared on site, authentic, and simply unforgettable.
