"Kue" is a Japanese restaurant located very close to the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Unlike other tourist areas in Tokyo (such as Ueno, Ginza, Roppongi, Shibuya), this area doesn’t have many restaurants targeting foreigners. If you're not familiar with Japanese cuisine or don't speak Japanese, finding a place to eat lunch when visiting this university can be quite challenging. Kue is also not particularly foreigner-friendly. The food here—sashimi set meals, braised fish, fried horse mackerel, pork cutlet, and more—is thoroughly Japanese. In the evening, it operates as an izakaya (a Japanese pub), while at lunch, it offers set menus that include rice, soup, some small dishes, and a main dish. However, I dare say that the food here won't feel too unfamiliar to foreigners, including Westerners. Additionally, the quality of the food is excellent. I had the fried horse mackerel set. If you want to make a good impression on the staff, try saying "aji furai"—that’s the Japanese term for it. For Japanese people, aji furai is one of the most common home-cooked meals. If you want to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese food culture, this is a great choice. If I ever visit this university again, I will definitely come back here.
