Kumakura is a sushi restaurant situated in the Akasaka area of Minato. Known for its cozy atmosphere, it specializes in small plates and offers an assortment of sushi dishes, complemented by a selection of alcoholic beverages including beer. Kumakura welcomes diners from Monday to Saturday, opening its doors from 6:00 PM until midnight, but does not operate on Sundays.
The restaurant enjoys a reputation for serving world-class sushi prepared with attention to detail, owing to over two decades of experience in the industry. However, opinions are mixed, as some guests find the ambiance cluttered and express dissatisfaction with the quality of the ingredients. Diners appreciate the opportunity for solo dining and are encouraged to make reservations, as seating is primarily counter-based. The entrance, seating, and parking at Kumakura are noted for lacking wheelchair accessibility.
The ownership, known for their personal touch and dedication, engages customers with stories and insights into the sushi-making craft. Although a popular spot for dinner, Kumakura does not offer delivery services or a comprehensive restroom facility. It is important to note that the most recent reviews date back a year, indicating a lack of updated information from the establishment itself. Despite varied feedbacks, Kumakura continues to cater to those in search of a traditional sushi dining experience in Minato.
Traditional, delicious, and great service. This place has been around for 25 years and consistently serves world class sushi. The attention to detail is superlative - eg because of the typhoon Toku-san got the Hokkaido uni a day earlier. The owner and his wife are excellent hosts and love what they do. It’s counter seating so do reserve a spot. Enjoy Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
